The original process used silk covered screens that were filled with liquid ink and the ink was pressed through the screen to create an image on whatever medium was being printed. Custom printed latex balloons created a new challenge because they were a flexible surface and the size of the surface was different when the product was in use than in its original size when it was manufactured. We learned that latex balloons could be printed while they were inflated and the natural latex would retain its original shape and flexibility after the air was released.
