With most people spending their time indoors, many of life’s everyday moments have been put on pause. Although many events can be rescheduled, there is one day that cannot be changed- a birthday! While many people do not want to celebrate their birthdays without extended family and friends, there are still ways to make the day special- even from the comfort of your own home!
Here are a few tips for planning an at-home children’s birthday party:
Make The Day Special
Start the celebration with a birthday breakfast! Prepare your child’s favorite food. This is a great way to get the day started and establish that it is a special day just for them.
A great way to get your child excited about their birthday is to partake in some of their favorite activities.
There are many options but here are a few ideas:
- Playing with legos
- Paper Mache projects
- Watching their favorite tv show
- Outdoor Activities- Basketball, Soccer, etc
Because this birthday will be much different from other birthdays, it is important to go all out with decorations to truly amp up the excitement of the day. Set up banners, streamers, and balloons in your home.
Although it is not possible to spend time with friends, you can still talk to them. On your child’s special day, contact their friends or their parents and set up a time where they can all get on a video call. During this call they can sing happy birthday and share in the festivities of the day- even if they cannot physically be there. The birthday boy or girl can also cut and eat their cake during this time.
Despite having to celebrate at home, this can still be a special day for the birthday girl or boy to remember!
