Shelf Life for Balloons

You may realize that you are getting a great deal on your custom printed balloons if you buy more! However, more is not always more. Custom printed latex balloons have a limited shelf life and you should consider how many balloons you will use in a couple month span, but then order "fresh" balloons if you have another event later in the year.

All latex balloons should be stored in a cool, dry and dark place. Temperature, moisture and light all combine together to decompose the latex balloons. Since latex balloons are 100% biodegradable, the balloons are breaking down from the moment they are made. We get a new supply of balloons weekly from the latex manufacturer so that you have the freshest balloons possible!

For your dental office or hair salon, you should figure out how many clients you would give a balloon to each week or month. Don't forget to add those promotion weekends when you might be seeing more clients and giving out more balloons! I suggest that a customer could have 2-3 months of a supply on hand and even up to 6 months if you have a desirable storing location. Of course I have had clients that will order a year supply and they feel that their balloons are perfectly fine a year later, but they have had the perfect environment for balloon storage! If you live in a humid climate, your supply of balloons may biodegrade quicker than someone who lives in a more temperate climate.

Here are some tips for storing your balloons:

• Keep all balloons in the original plastic bag packaging.
• Keep all balloons away from direct sunlight or artificial light
• Keep all balloons away from extreme heat such as a register in a business or on top of a computer monitor that would maintain heat each day
• Keep all balloons away from any moisture such as an entrance to a bathroom or steam room

Did you know that each balloon is inflated during the printing process? We check for holes or rubber rot when we are printing your balloons! Any type of product abnormality is found at our plant to insure that you receive balloons free from holes. Of course balloons may pop during or after inflation. Popping balloons can be diagnosed by calling one of our helpful team members. Always check for a flat and smooth ceiling, static charge in the room, and be careful to not over inflate your balloons. The bottom of a latex balloon should start to resemble a pear, but don't let the end get too pointy! Mylar balloons should not be over inflated either, and should have wrinkles around the side of the balloon. With proper storage and proper inflation your custom printed balloons should be an asset to your business or promotion. The storage suggestions for latex balloons would include any custom printed latex balloons, any Mumbo Jumbo, Gorilla or cloud buster balloons.

The foil or mylar balloons, should be stored with care, but they do not have a limited shelf life like a latex balloon. The mylars are not biodegradable so they have an unlimited shelf life.
